For 2026, the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB) has introduced several updates to ensure a smoother experience for the lakhs of devotees (Yatris) expected to visit the Holy Cave.

Amarnath Yatra Dates for 2026
Yatra Start Date: July 3, 2026
Yatra End Date (Shravan Purnima): August 28, 2026
Registration Opening: April 15, 2026
Medical Certificate Validity: Must be issued on or after April 8, 2026.
Amarnath Yatra & Health Requirements
The trek involves high altitudes (up to 14,000 ft), making health a priority.
Age Limit: 13 to 70 years only.
Pregnancy: Women more than 6 weeks pregnant are not permitted.
Compulsory Health Certificate (CHC): Every Yatri must obtain a CHC from a SASB-authorized doctor or hospital. A general certificate from any local clinic will not be accepted.
Amarnath Yatra Registration Process
You cannot start the Yatra without a Yatra Permit and an RFID Card.
Option A: Advance Registration (Banks)
You can register at over 550 designated bank branches across India (SBI, PNB, J&K Bank, and Yes Bank).
Carry your original CHC, 4 passport-size photos, and a valid ID (Aadhaar/Voter ID).
Pay the registration fee (approx. ₹250–₹300).
Choose your route and date of travel.
Option B: Online Registration
Visit the Official SASB Website. You will need to upload digital copies of your photo, ID, and CHC.

Note: Once you reach Jammu or Srinagar, you must collect your RFID Card from designated centers. No Yatri is allowed past the base camp without this tag.
4. Choosing Your Route
There are two main ways to reach the Holy Cave from Srinagar:

Helicopter Bookings for Amarnath Yatra
For those with limited time or physical constraints, helicopters are available.
Routes: Neelgrath (near Baltal) to Panjtarni OR Pahalgam to Panjtarni.
Estimated Price (One Way): ₹3,250 to ₹6,500 (Prices vary by route).
Booking: Only via the official SASB portal. Avoid third-party "agents" to prevent scams.
Crucial Tip: Even with a helicopter, you must walk or take a pony for the final 6 km (Pahalgam route) or 2 km (Baltal route) from the helipad to the Cave.
Travel Logistics from Srinagar
Since you are operating from your taxi yard, here is how most guests will reach the base camps:
Srinagar to Baltal: ~95 km (approx. 3.5 hours drive). Ideal for those wanting a quick trip.
Srinagar to Pahalgam: ~90 km (approx. 3 hours drive). The scenic route.
Essential Packing List
Clothing: Heavy woolens, thermal innerwear, and a high-quality raincoat (weather changes in minutes).
Footwear: Waterproof trekking shoes with a good grip (avoid sneakers).
Medical Kit: Basic medicines for cold, headache, and mountain sickness (Diamox after consulting a doctor).
Sim Card: Only Postpaid connections (BSNL, Airtel, Jio) work in J&K. BSNL has the best coverage on the tracks.
Safety & "Do's"
Acclimatize: Spend at least 24 hours in Srinagar or Jammu before starting the trek.
Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water to avoid Altitude Sickness.
RFID Tag: Keep it visible around your neck at all times.
